In this episode, we sit down with Amy Carvalho, who is the chairwoman of the Board of Regents that control the six state colleges and universities in Nevada. Amy and her husband were the former owners of the 7-11 in town that is now located at the intersection of Nevada Highway and Adams Boulevard, so she has deep roots in Boulder City. She explains what a regent does and why it’s such an important role in the state academic hierarchy. She also talks about Question 1 on the state ballot which would remove the Board of Regents from the state constitution and give the legislature greater control over it.
