SPECIAL EDITION: Conversation With Former Nevada Governor and Senator Richard Bryan

This is a very special Boulder City Podcast featuring an event that presented an appearance by former Nevada Governor and Senator Richard Bryan held recently at the Boulder City Library. Richard Bryan was a long time force in Nevada politics. He was the first public defender in Clark County in the 1960s and later was elected to the Nevada state Senate in 1972. He then was elected attorney general for the state in 1978 before running successfully for governor in 1982 and re-elected four years later. He defeated incumbent Republican Senator Chic Hecht in 1988 and held that seat before retiring in 2000 after serving two terms. Interviewing Bryan is John L. Smith, his co-author in his new biography, My Life in Nevada Politics. Smith is a former resident of Boulder City and is one of the most respected journalists and writers in Nevada history. He is author of more than a dozen books and currently is a columnist for the Nevada Independent. They appeared together at the Library on March 28, 2026. This Boulder City Podcast also includes presentations of proclamations for Richard Bryan Day in Boulder City and in Clark County.
